Continuing their sales growth trend, Buda and Kyle experienced double-digit increases in sales tax allocations for June, compared to the same month last year; meanwhile San Marcos fell below two-percentage points from the same period in 2012.
Buda brought in $313,498.91 in sales tax revenues, a 19.42 percent jump from the June 2012 figure of $262,506.80, according to Texas Comptroller records.
Kyle experienced a 12.44 percent increase from last year’s June figures. Texas Comptroller Susan Combs returned $302,669.76 to Kyle this month, according to the state agency’s website; she only returned $269,170.49 in the same reporting period last year.
San Marcos, who has been experiencing steady increases in sales, fell below last year’s June revenue figure, the comptroller’s office reported. This month, San Marcos was allocated $1,677,222.91, a 2.18 percent decrease from last year’s $1,714,757.50.
All three cities have, however, received more sales tax revenue payments this year to date, compared to the same six months in 2012.
Sales tax allocation totals for the first six months of 2013 for Buda, Kyle and San Marcos have been $2.03 million, $1.99 million, and $11.78 million, respectively. In the first six months of 2012, Buda, Kyle and San Marcos brought in $1.73 million, $1.74 million, and $10.75 million, respectively.
Hays County received $977,343.92 in June sales tax allocations, a five-percent jump from the $930,782.33 it received in the same month last year. The county’s 2013 payments to date, too, have seen an increase. This year, thus far, Hays County has received $6.58 million in total sales tax allocations, an 11.79 percent uptick from the $5.88 million it received from Jan. through June in 2012.
June sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in April.
