Irene A. Carrico (1928-2013)

Irene A. Carrico, born June 24, 1928, in Tulia, Texas, to Lydia and James Watt Kiker, passed from Earth on March 28, 2013, surrounded by family. Irene, a resident of Kyle, Texas, graduated from Tulia High School, attended McMurray College, and became a registered X-Ray technician. She loved music, reading, needlework, bird watching, and gardening.


A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2128 Barton Hills Drive, Austin, on Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m.


Irene was predeceased by her parents; sister, Kathryn McKinney McClanahan, and brother, Frank Kiker, both of Tulia; twin sister, Allene Carter Kilcrease, of Lubbock; and grandson, Evan Michael Smith, of Buda. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Herschel Carrico, of Kyle; sister, Jean McKinney O’Malley, of McKinney; brothers James W. Kiker II and Charles Kiker, both of Tulia; children Glenn Gardner of Plano, Janet Huston of Driftwood, Dennis Luther of Albuquerque, Martha Smith of Buda, and Kaye Larberg of Cypress.


Other survivors include grandchildren Jason Craig of Austin, Erin Huston Ytuarte of Houston, Katie Nelson of Katy, Eric Smith of Buda, Cody Luther of Albuquerque, and Chris, Jennifer and Jordan Nuspel of Plano; great grandchildren Evan Annette Nelson of Katy, and Shannon and Gavin Nuspel of Plano, as well as much-loved nieces, nephews, and their children.
