Texans can purchase alcohol with take-out orders at restaurants.
Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1024 on Wednesday to permanently allow Texans to include beer, wine and mixed drinks to be included in pickup and delivery food orders. Restaurants started bringing in even more revenue in March 2020 after Abbott signed a waiver to allow for to-go alcohol sales when dining rooms were forced to close.
"Texans liked [to-go alcohol] so much," Abbott said in a video posted on Twitter, "the Texas Legislature wanted to make that permanent law."
Alcohol to-go is now LAW in Texas!
Thank you to my partners in the legislature for getting this to my desk.#txlege pic.twitter.com/iPDrbjGwF1
