Lehman High School Child Development students organized the first ever “The S’more You Read, The S’more You Know” children’s book drive.
Students delivered boxes to participating teachers to collect new or gently used children’s books the month of November. The class that donated the most books won a s’more party. Ms. Baragas’ class donated the most books with a total of 650. Ms. Hoke came in second with a total of 180. All the books donated were wrapped and distributed between Hemphill, Fuentes, and Kyle Elementary before the Christmas break. During the project, child development students gained a better understanding of the need to read at an early age and how the act of giving one book can change a life. (Photo by Jim Cullen)
