Staff and students participated in the mandated waste audit by the Department of Labor at Gary Job Corps Center. Participants sorted through 4.19 tons of trash, compost, and recyclables during this one day event. The results of the audit showed 14 percent more could be diverted from the landfills. After the results of the waste audit, the center is estimated to be diverting 63 percent of their solid waste away from landfills.
