Kyle police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man suspected of aggravated robbery, stemming from an incident that left a victim with skull and orbital fractures and brain swelling.
Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith issued an arrest warrant for Arthur Dewayne Carson, 52, after police said he assaulted a D.R. Horton sales employee in the model home of the Post Oak subdivision, just a few blocks from Tobias Elementary, before robbing him of personal belongings, including a wallet and jewelry.

Carson had been contracted to perform a “sign spinning” job on the roadway – an advertising mechanism used to market homes for sale – when he allegedly made his way into the victim’s office, in the model home of the subdivision, and threatened the victim with a box cutter while proceeding to take property from the victim’s person, according to suspect’s probable cause affidavit.
After taking the victim’s property, Carson allegedly forced the victim to the floor and struck him on the head and face with an unknown object until he lost consciousness, the affidavit stated.
Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said the victim was badly beaten and could not tell police what had transpired.
Officers who arrived to the model home at 201 Stennis on Oct. 13, reported the victim as having a black eye and appearing disoriented. The victim was transported and treated at an Austin-area hospital where he was admitted into “emergency surgery” for “severe head trauma,” according to court documents.
Barnett said on Monday that the victim remained in serious condition and authorities have not been able to interview him for details due to his medical circumstances.
The victim’s wife told police, shortly after the attack, that her husband’s gold Texas A&M ring was possibly missing. She described the ring as having a diamond in the center of it and the victim’s name inscribed inside of the dome.
On Oct. 17 authorities learned Carson pawned a yellow, size 11, Texas A&M ring the day of the alleged attack at a pawnshop in Austin. The pawn ticket revealed that the person who pawned the ring matched Carson’s name and driver’s license number, according to court documents.
Kyle Police Detective Pedro Carrasco traveled to the pawnshop in Austin and recovered a gold Texas A&M class ring with a diamond in the middle and noticed what appeared to be the victim’s name inscribed on the inside of the ring, according to court documents. The victim’s wife and daughter then met with police and both women identified the ring as belonging to the victim, the documents state.
Barnett said Carson should be considered dangerous, his charge is “serious” and local authorities are making every effort to locate him.
“We’re urging anyone with possible information on the suspect’s whereabouts to please call your local police department or the Kyle Police Department at (512) 268-3232 and report Carson’s location,”he said.
Barnett said the suspect was last seen in downtown Austin sometime last week near I-35 and 7th street.
