Precinct 2 building opening at last

More than one hundred people gathered on Jack C. Hays Trail last week for the ribbon cutting of the much anticipated Precinct 2 county building, which houses the county commission, JP offices, tax assessor substation, sheriff substation and more. Mark Jones (photo on left) introduced various speakers, including state and local officials, and presentations were made by the local Amvet group. The road to the new office was a long one. Past offices include (below, left) JP James A. Holt’s home, in which jurors sat on a couch in his office; (below, middle) the building at the corner of Front and Center streets in Kyle; (below, right) the old Kyle Bank Building, later Wells Fargo, which now houses the Kyle Police Department.
