Hays Free Press to premiere new website

It’s coming. And it’s bigger and better than ever.

The Hays Free Press’ new website is set to go live later this month, and there’s lots of activity going on behind the scenes to get ready.

Designers and the local staff are working to make sure there is more than ever on the new site.

Videos, photos and stories will be easier to access, and the new, bolder look should appeal to readers across the board.

For those who want to peruse through the pages as if through the printed edition, they can easily open that fi le online, too. It’s a new and easier way for local readers to look at stories, but also to check out any local ads.

While the site will remain free for a short time, the cost of maintaining the only truly local news website comes at a price.

Current subscribers need to make sure that they have turned in their email address to our circulation department (paper@haysfreepress. com). And, anyone wanting to get a head start and keep their prices low (only $28/year) can call the office (512-268-7862 or fi ll out a form online at our current site – www.haysfreepress.com). The new management system will be sending out user names and passwords within the month to current subscribers.

Just like most true news organizations, the website will have some items in front of the paywall. Need a look at the service directory? That’s in front of the paywall.

Just want a paragraph or two about a breaking story, that will be available, too. And, our events calendar will be updated as well.

Subscribers, though, get a fuller version and more updates that the casual readers. In-depth stories, more photos, more videos ... it’s all available for a low price.

Finally, for those readers who just want a little charge every month on their credit card, we will also be able to accommodate them.

So, get ready. We are working hard to make sure that the new website brings you the best in local news.
