With a casino night theme, the annual Denim & Diamonds gala, the main fundraising event for the Hays CISD Education Foundation, had a sell-out crowd of more than 340 guests Sat. night.
Held at the Texas Disposal System exotic ranch, the event featured dinner, music, dancing and a silent auction. Desserts were created by the Lehman High School culinary program students under the guidance of teacher Ryan Georgi. Organizers say the gala raised nearly $100,000. According to event chairperson Holly Smith Raymond, also a Hays CISD Board of Trustees member, the money will fund $50,000 in innovative teaching grants that will be distributed just before the upcoming holiday break..
