Bartering books for Buda

By Connie Brooks.

One of the best ways that you can help support the Buda Library is by donating your gently used books. For many years The Friends of the Buda Library has taken on the task of selling these donations at their annual books sale during Buda-fest in order to generate funds to support programs, services, and materials for the library.

However, as Buda has grown these past few years, the demands on the library have increased and storage is at a premium. This lack of space has made it difficult to maintain the stock of donations and has led to a new approach to book sales.

For the past year donated books have been sold monthly through a consignment partnership. This has allowed space to be reclaimed while still generating much needed money for the library’s needs.

So, even though you won’t see the book sale at this year’s Budafest in December, fundraising for the library is still being accomplished – and with very little inconvenience to daily operations, which has always been the goal.

Please continue to donate books at the library. Your contributions are critical to raising money and continue to make a huge difference in supporting the library!

The Friends will have a large number of used children’s books and audio books available to choose from with your small financial donation during Budafest, so stop by their booth and say hello.
