Most of us have quite a few cards of various types in our purses and wallets. We have identification, credit and debit cards, discount program cards, business cards, and goodness knows what else in there. However, the smartest card you might possibly have is a library card. Your Buda Public Library card lets you select from over 23,000 books, 2,000 audio books, 1,400 movies, and 50 magazine subscriptions. That’s not even counting all the amazing resources available online, from any computer. There are over 50 databases provided through the TexShare program covering everything from worldwide newspapers to crafting hobbies to small engine repair to job search help. We also have online resources that help you get ready for college entrance tests (ePrep), let you download e-books and audio books (OverDrive), enroll you in online classes (Universal Class) and more! These cards are free to everyone that lives in Hays County.
How do you get a library card?
Just bring in a state-issued ID with your current address on it. If it doesn’t have your current address, also bring some official document, like a bill or check, that has your name and new address. If you are under 17, bring a parent or guardian to sign with you. There’s a short application and then you are free to use all the resources the library has to offer!
