Visit the unique shops and restaurants in Historic Downtown San Marcos on the third Saturday of the month. Look for specials at participating shops and eateries. Takes place July 20 at the San Marcos Downtown Square.
Old Gruene Market Days
Nearly 100 vendors offer uniquely crafted items and packaged Texas foods. Free admission and parking. Event runs from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. July 20 and July 21 in Historic Gruene.
Foodstock and Salsa Showdown
Come out to Foodstock and help the Hays County Food Bank. Enjoy live music beginning at 1 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in San Marcos. Lineup includes Jack Wilson, Kabomba and Brownout. Hey salsa makers – submit a quart of homemade salsa to be judged. The $10 entry fee benefits the foodbank. The Salsa Showdown runs 1-4 p.m. Foodstock and the Salsa Showdown take place beginning at 1 p.m. July 27 at the San Marcos Downtown Square.
Christmas in July at the library
The San Marcos Public Library puppeteers present The Night Before Christmas in Texas, a favorite holiday story celebrating our “Christmas in July” week of summer reading program events. Library puppet shows are just right for children ages two and up. The popular library puppeteers will perform the first show at 7 p.m. on July 23 and three more at 10 and 11 a.m. and then again at 1 p.m. on July 24.
Other “Christmas in July” events are Snowfall Storytimes for preschoolers at 10:15 and 11:00 a.m on July 23 and on at 11 a.m. on July 25 at the San Marcos Public Library.
