Al Valvo (1949-2013)

    Al Valvo passed away suddenly at 64 years of age on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his home in Kyle. “Big Al” was born April 28, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Emanuel Valvo and Jean Siriani.


 Upon graduation from New Utrecht High School, he joined the US Air Force where he served in Vietnam. Al married Patricia Valvo on July 9, 1977 and had two sons, Thomas Valvo of Kyle and Daniel Valvo of Vermilion, Ohio. Al loved his children and grandchildren more than anything else in the world. His four-legged best friend, Dwayne, is lost without Al.  


 


Big Al was an avid New York Giants fan and New York Mets fan. Countless friends and family members will miss him. His humor brought a smile to so many people. A friend said it best: “There will 



no longer be peace in heaven with Big Al around.”


   Al was preceded in death by his father Emanuel Valvo. He is survived by his mother Jean Siriani; son Tom and his fiancée Valarie Streiff and their children Alex, Konnor, Kasssidy, and Kylie; son Dan and his wife Christine Valvo along with their children Hayley, Ella, and Dan Jr. Al is also survived by brothers Steve, Manny, and Chris; sisters JoAnne and Debbie, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.


   The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013. That afternoon a committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with military honors rendered.
