Last Saturday, the Lehman High School drumline participated in their first ever “drum-a-thon.” From 4 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. on Sunday, the drumline and front ensemble practiced rudiments, scales and
learnednew musical selections, as well as gained instruction from guest percussionists. The idea was to have “15 straight hours of drumming with no interruptions. Lehman’s drumline performed at Chipotle in Southpark Meadows on Saturday night, as the company helped their cause. It was all done to raise money to purchase new and refurbish old equipment, pay for consultants and technicians, and fund trips to competitions. Donations were given to the cause either by dollars per hour, or through a one-time donation. Jordan Garza, who had done this previously at Cedar Park High School, said the drumline learned new cadences, and the entire percussion section learned new tunes to fill the 15-hour drum fest. The performers themselves were excited for the chance to play. The fundraiser brought in approximately $2,000 dollars. Percussionists were Zac Salas, top, and from left to right below are Alexis Deleon-Juarez, Tomas Garza and Noah Jorpeland. (Photos by Moses Leos III)
