Oleta Schmidt Roach, 93, of Buda, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2013. She was born January 3, 1920, in Caldwell County, Texas, to Edwin Otto and Anna Damerau Schmidt. She married R.J. "Jake" Roach on November 15, 1937, and together they raised four children.
Oleta was known by many as a dear, sweet lady who loved her family and friends. She was a resident of Buda for more than 75 years and a longtime member of Buda United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers, Clifford, Joe, and Curtis Schmidt; sister Viola Schmidt Roach; and granddaughter Brenda Braune Border. She is survived by her three daughters, Betty Braune of Austin; Mary Jo Crawford and husband Don of San Marcos; and Phyllis Patterson and husband Eric of Buda; and son, Jim Roach and wife Doris of Uhland. Also, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also, special friend Billie Franke.
Funeral services were held at Buda United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, officiated by the Revs. Nancy Day and Mark Green. Interment followed at Live Oak Cemetery near Manchaca. Donations may be made in her memory to the Food Pantry of Buda United Methodist Church.
