A committee of citizens appointed by the Board of Trustees, called the Growth Impact Committee, is currently reviewing whether to recommend a bond initiative in 2014. The committee will meet through November with the goal of making a recommendation to the board in early December.
There are five needs categories the community is considering:
• Safety and Security
• Transportation
• Technology
• Maintenance – Facility and Equipment Upgrades
• New Construction
The committee is comprised of 28 voting members - four appointments from each of the seven board of trustees members. Additionally, some Hays CISD administrators are serving as non-voting, advisory members.
Parents and community members are encouraged to follow the activities of the committee and share their ideas and thoughts. All meetings are open to the public. Hays CISD also has a special webpage dedicated to the committee: www.hayscisd.net/GIC.
Visitors can send messages directly to the committee, read the meeting agendas and minutes, see the committee membership list, and access complete copies of all committee reports and presentations.
If the committee recommends, and the board adopts, the district would hold public hearings on the bond recommendation in January. School district residents would then vote on the bond in May 2014.
