After years of planning and waiting, Buda skateboarders finally got to shred the pavement at the Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park grand opening on Saturday.
The event saw the realization of a project meant to honor the late Hays High School student.

At the dedication ceremony, Mayor Todd Ruge admitted there were “bumps in the road.” However, he was honored to see the project complete. He then challenged the skaters with keeping the park clean and safe.
Rebecca Norris, Jackson’s mother, said the park was everything she imagined it would be. She was also glad the project finally reached its completion, with it providing a place for the local skaters to enjoy.
She felt Jackson would be proud of what they have accomplished.
“We’re just proud that’s it finally complete… but we’re here and we love it, and the kids love it.” Norris said. “It’s hard to picture [the park] on a drawing. It’s beautiful …We’re real pleased.”
