Cecil Ray Winzer, Sr. (1947-2013)

My beloved husband, Cecil Ray Winzer, Sr. passed away in Kyle, Texas, on Dec. 11, 2013. He was born to Clarence and Merdie Winzer in Goose Creek, Texas on March 30, 1947. We were married on Aug. 15, 1969 in Bacliff, Texas.

Cecil was a loving, devoted father who inspired our children to be kind, respectful and loving adults. He put everything he had into his children and instilled discipline, hard work, ambition and integrity into their lives.

His five children and thirteen grandchildren are his legacy. His children are: Lora Heath and spouse Austin, Cecil Winzer, Jr. and spouse Aileen, Mary Morgan and spouse Heath, Clarence Winzer III and spouse Sara, Lisa Veltri and spouse Josh. His grandchildren are: Jordan Winzer, Austin Heath, Alec Rodriguez, Tanner Heath, Caden Winzer, Aris Morgan, Josephine Winzer, Cecily Winzer, Liam Winzer, Jakob Winzer, Crew Veltri, Cole Veltri and Ty Winzer. Our children, their spouses, our grandchildren and our puppy Bo will cherish his memory forever.

Cecil will be greatly missed by his mother, Merdie Winzer; his brother, Walter Winzer; and his sisters, Barbara LaCour, Bonnie Cooke, Joyce Raines, Brenda Fugate, and Linda Yarcho. They remember him as a loving, protective, big brother who often looked for adventure far from home.

Cecil served in the Army from 1966-1969 and was stationed in Germany. He had a 30-year career with Lockheed Martin and then went on to work for the Hays Independent School District and retired from there in December 2010.

Cecil fought a courageous battle right up to the end and passed peacefully surrounded by his family. My family and I would like to thank the nurses and staff at Seton Hays. We watched them fight hard to save him and then provided compassionate support in his last moments. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sustainable Food Center in his name.

My darling Cecil, thank you for 44 years of happiness and adventure. Though you are no longer with me physically, you will be present in my heart for the rest of my life; with my deepest love always, your wife, Pauline.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. Interment followed at the Onion Creek Memorial Park located at 11610 Chapel Lane, Austin, Texas.
