On Thursday, January 16, 2014, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Hays County, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), will conduct a project information Open House to discuss the proposed widening and re-alignment of FM 2001 between IH 35 and SH 21 (Camino Real). The Open House will be held at Studio Estates Club House between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Studio Estates Club House is located at 6880 Goforth Road, Kyle, Texas 78640.
The proposed project consists of widening from the existing 2-lane section to a 4-lane divided section and realigning FM 2001 from IH 35 to SH 21 (Camino Real). The purpose of the proposed project is to enhance safety and mobility in the project area. The proposed project would correct substandard curves and re-align FM 2001 to be on one continuous alignment between IH 35 and the existing alignment of FM 2001 south of SH 21.
The purpose of the Open House is to share project information with the public and to obtain public input to be considered during development of the project. Exhibits showing alignment alternatives, environmental constraints, and other information about the proposed project will be available for review at the Open House. Prior to the Open House, the exhibits are available for review at the Hays County Precinct 2 Office (5488 FM 2770, Kyle, Texas 78640) and at the TxDOT South Travis Area Office (9725 S IH 35, Austin, Texas 78744). A formal presentation will not be made during the Open House, but project team members will be available to answer questions.
All interested citizens are encouraged to attend the Open House and provide input on the project. Verbal and written comments regarding the proposed project are requested and may be presented either at the Open House or in writing after the Open House. To be included in the official record of the Open House, written comments must be received by 5:00 PM on Monday, January 27, 2014. Persons interested in attending the Open House who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact the Hays County Precinct 2 Office at (512) 262-2091 at least two business days prior to the Open House. The meeting will be conducted in English, and a Spanish interpreter will be available.
