Staff Report
Following an early Christmas morning heist in Kyle, several suspects are still at large. They are wanted for armed robbery at the 7-11 store at the corner of FM 150 East and the IH-35 frontage road. Kyle Police are asking for the public’s help in catching two, possibly three, men.
According to Kyle Police Department (KPD) Chief Jeff Barnett, at approximately 2:30 a.m., two White or Hispanic males walked into the 7-11 and robbed the store at gunpoint.
The suspects donned red masks, and wore grey or black Nike sweatshirts, black pants and black Converse Chuck Taylor tennis shoes.
Barnett said the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money, then fled the scene on foot. Police say the men fled east toward a tree line that separates an open field behind the 7-11 from the Trails Subdivision.
No other customers were in the store at the time.
The clerk, who was uninjured, contacted Kyle Police immediately following the robbery. The clerk told authorities two robbers committed the crime. However, they have not said whether the clerk saw a third robber in the store.
When KPD arrived on scene, Barnett said a citizen approached the officers, saying they observed three men fleeing the 7-11. It was not clear at press time if video surveillance tape of the incident showed two or three suspects committing the crime.
Responding officers set up a perimeter in the area; they also requested assistance from the San Marcos Police Department K-9 Unit and Travis County STARFlight helicopter.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
Kyle Police are investigating the incident. They ask anyone who may have information to call (512) 268-3232. All tips are confidential.
