Efim Anatoly Berezin, 25, of Kyle, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Kyle. He was born July 7, 1988 in Lipetsky, Russia and came to America in May of 2000.
Efim loved the outdoors and everything about it. He would ride his bike for hours and walk in the evenings listening to music. His love for the outdoors was encouraged by his time in the Boy Scouts and he went
camping whenever he could. While doing so he would enjoy fishing, climbing trees and rocks or just go swimming in the rivers, the lakes and the oceans of Texas.
The only thing missing, due to living in Texas, was snow. Of all the seasons, winter was Efim’s favorite. In Russia, he would go sledding with his friends on snowy days, and then warmed themselves by the radiators as their clothes dripped from the winter activities of boyhood. He hoped one day to go to Colorado with his mother to ski and to enjoy the winter once more.
Family was extremely important to Efim. His strong aspiration was to take care of his mother, brother and sister. Whether it was in the simplicity of flying a kite in the park, or the challenge of building Legos with Christopher, or just holding Paulina’s hand as he noticed how big she was getting, Efim knew it was in these small moments that a family was defined.
Efim would never let an opportunity pass to help others and it was a matter of great pride when he was asked to return to help again. He was a physically strong young man and would be the first to carry the heavy loads and burdens. He also had a great mind for math and science and aspired to become aerospace engineer. He was working towards reentry into the engineering department of The University of Texas before he passed away.
For all the pains and struggles that pressed on Efim during his adult life, he had a great childhood and the memory of his happy upbringing will always be a comfort to his mother. We love you Efim and will miss your smile.
He is survived by his mother, Irina Berezina-Clark of Austin; brother, Christopher and sister, Paulina.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 12, 2013, in the Chapel of Harrell Funeral Home, Austin.
