Hello, Little Bluebird

Let’s all eat some BBQ on Sunday and support 15-year-old Landon Tyner at a benefit BBQ, bake sale, live and silent auctions, along with team Landon t-shirt sales. Everything gets underway at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. in the parking lots of Kwik Kar and First State Bank on Main Street across from Santa Cruz Church. Proceeds from the benefit will help Landon and his family, as he will soon be on the waiting list for a heart transplant.

After 11 years of business at 122 Main Street in downtown Buda, Sue Ellen’s Flowers will be vacating the building and moving into the wholesale business.
The Hays Free Press office and Old Main Street Station will continue in their same location in the building and will be joined by Margaret Goebler with her new shop Little Bluebird. Goebler’s boutique shop will carry Circle E candles, jewelry, gifts and many more unique items. With the new business coming in, there will be some inside work going on in the building for a couple of weeks. Stop by the Hays Free Press and Old Main Street Station to check out the “new look” and watch for the grand opening of Little Bluebird.

After a long hard day’s work last Saturday, members of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens reported $2,155 in gross sales from their King Ranch Chicken sale. Even after expenses, the amount was well worth the long day. Thanks to the community for the support given to the senior population of our area.

Next for the Onion Creek Senior Citizens will be a Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. All are welcome to take part in the event. Flu shots will be available, along with hearing exams, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and information concerning Medicare, senior living facilities, home health and hospice care and much more.

Birthday wishes go out to Steve Quisenberry on Oct. 10; Betty Davis on Oct. 13; Becky Beck on Oct. 16; John Keller and Carolyn Huddleston on Oct.17.

Monday, Oct. 14 is Columbus Day and a holiday for our Hays CISD students, the Buda Library and some businesses. If you have the day off, do enjoy it.

Be sure to visit the Pumpkin Patch and get that “just right” pumpkin!
