Kyle Methodist Church fall festival
Head to the Kyle United Methodist Church for a free fall festival and Kyle’s only pumpkin patch. Get free pumpkin patch photos from a photographer on site. Kids of all ages can play fun and free games for prizes, including the Ping Pong Challenge and a Nerf shooting range. Rumor has it there might even be “Pumpkin Chunking.” Enjoy the craft and bake sale as well. Funds raised from the Fall Festival support the various missions of the church. Festival takes place Oct. 19 after the Founder’s Day Parade.


Team Landon fundraiser
Join this BBQ and bake sale on Oct. 13 at the Kwik Kar in Buda to support Landon Tyner, the Hays High student from Buda who needs a heart transplant. The event will feature a live auction by Sample & Son of Buda and live music will be provided by James Downing and Six Sons of a Gun.


Night In Old Luling
Head to Luling for some old fashioned family entertainment with a cake auction, bingo, games, music, scarecrow contest and more. The event will be from 5-9 p.m. Oct 12 at the Downtown Luling Thump Pavilion.


Kyle Founder’s Day Parade
The town of Kyle was platted and the first lots sold sometime around Oct. 15, 1880. Parades through downtown around the middle of October have been a tradition ever since. For 2013, the parade theme is “Pink out the Parade: A Tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness.” Parade participants gather at Gregg-Clarke Park and head east on Center Street to the Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park’s Gazebo. Everyone is invited to sing “Happy Birthday” to Kyle and enjoy a piece of birthday cake. Parade begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 19.


Lifting the Bar for Dell Children’s
Crossfit Kyle is co-hosting a competition/fundraiser called “Lifting the Bar” to raise money for Dell Children’s Medical Center. The goal is to raise $75,000. Event takes place beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at Central Texas Speedway in Kyle.


Colors of the Sky
Uptown Blanco’s third annual quilt show, “Colors of the Sky” hosted by the Uptown Blanco Textile Studio runs Friday, Oct. 11-Sunday, Oct. 13. In addition to the 200 quilts on display, there will be special exhibits of quilts by internationally renowned quilters Louisa Smith and Ellen Anne Eddy, who will be a guest teacher and lecturer. The exhibit opens at noon Friday and goes until 7 p.m. The exhibit runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday noon-4 p.m. at the Uptown Blanco Arts & Entertainment, Ltd. on Main Street in Blanco.
