A bomb threat at a Buda daycare facility caused local law enforcement to evacuate the building and call in a bomb-sniffing dog.
Buda Police Chief Bo Kidd reported that a bomb threat was called into First Class Child Development Center on Old Black Colony Rd. in Buda early Tuesday afternoon. According to Kidd, an earlier call was also made to the center’s headquarters in South Austin with essentially the same message.
Both facilities were evacuated; children and staff from the Buda location were safely transported to the YMCA Hays facility with help from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.
In an update Tuesday evening, Kidd said the bomb sniffing dog, brought in from the Texas Department of Public Safety from the capitol building in Austin, found nothing indicating a bomb. Law enforcement officials also physically inspected the entire premises and secured the location.
Kidd said Det. Erika Simmons is working the case in conjunction with the Austin Police Department.
