Police continue search for hit-and-run suspect

STAFF REPORT

Kyle police are searching for a vehicle or vehicles involved in the apparent hit-and-run death of a woman in Kyle last week.

The victim, who has not been identified, wore blue nail polish and pink striped socks. She was young, probably in her early 20s, and when police recovered her body on the side of Interstate 35 in Kyle, they found multiple signs of traumatic injuries.

Few clues have emerged since the woman was killed the night of Jan. 18.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine whether she was hit by a vehicle – or vehicles – as she walked along the northbound lanes of the freeway shortly after 10 p.m. She was in possession of a Mexican identification card, but police are in the process of verifying the ID and have not determined whether the card belonged to the woman.

People with information about the woman, the vehicle or driver are asked to call the Kyle police at 512-268-0859.

Authorities say the victim appeared to be a Hispanic woman with a medium build and dark brown, medium-length hair. In addition to the nail polish and striped socks, she was wearing white Ralph Lauren canvas-type shoes, blue jeans, a pink T-shirt and blue lightweight jacket.

The preliminary results of her autopsy revealed multiple traumatic injuries, Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith said.
