Cecil Cowan, 86, a life-long resident of San Marcos, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was born April 24, 1926, in San Marcos, to Thomas and Lottie (Massey) Cowan. Cecil was well known in the area as a hard worker, a true Christian, and a loving family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Cecil is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents, three brothers and two sisters, and a great-granddaughter. He is survived by his children Cecil W. Cowan and his wife Gayna, Robert Ray Cowan and his wife Janie, Mike Cowan and wife Pat, Joyce Cowan, and Patricia Lackey. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Stigall and Dorothy Jean Laidley; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012, in the Thomason Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Jeff Latham will officiate. Burial will follow in the San Marcos City Cemetery.
