Locals needed in upcoming JFK film

by VERONICA GORDON

Do you think you have what it takes to be in the movies? If so, then you’re in luck. A casting call has been issued in the area for a major motion picture that begins filming in January and February. A major Hollywood feature film will be shooting in Austin.

Producers are searching for residents of Kyle and surrounding towns to play two men in supporting roles in “Parkland.”

The film is produced by Tom Hanks and stars Billy Bob Thornton and Paul Giamatti.

“No acting experience is necessary,” said casting assistant Jessica Vasami. “We just really want some local people to contact us, and we’re trying to get the word out. We don’t want any more L.A. actors.”

The casting call is for two specific types: a 50- to 65-year-old Caucasian man who is tall (6’3”-6’6”), wide-shouldered and rugged. He should have a traditional Texas feel. And a 60-plus-year-old Caucasian preacher is also needed. Actual preachers are encouraged to submit, Vasami said.

Interested applicants should email their name, best contact phone number, town they reside in, and two recent photos to casting director Vicky Boone at [email protected].

Boone has also cast films such as “The Tree of Life” (starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn), “The Girl” (starring Abbie Cornish) and “Abel’s Field” (starring Kevin Sorbo).
