The Buda Police Department will be sponsoring its first Blue Santa program. The program is designed to help elementary school children in the community who would not otherwise have the financial resources to receive gifts. The children (selected by area schools) will be escorted by a police officer to the local Walmart where they will “Shop with a Cop” and purchase presents of their choosing. The amount spent by each child will be dictated by contributions.
“As a department, we feel honored to be able to help the community youth, and place smiles on their faces when they may not otherwise have one,” said Buda Police Chief Bo Kidd.
