Hazel Smith, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Kyle, Texas.
She was born on September 1, 1917 in Smiley, Texas to Wayne and Maggie Cantley. Hazel began her career in communications as a switchboard operator with Southwestern Bell during WWII. She retired after over 30 years of dedicated service. Her retirement years were filled with gardening, spending time with her family, and especially enjoying her great-grandsons and great-great-granddaughters.
Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Maxine Haislip and her sister, Mildred Axtell. She will be sadly missed by loving granddaughter, Debi Jones and husband, Steve; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
Services were held Saturday, July 14, 2012 with interment at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park
