My duties as a Buda City Council appointee charged to serve as a Buda Economic Development Corporation Board member has at times caused me to partake in sometimes testy decisions along with other board members. But, I do take my job on the board very seriously and yes I do read the timely issued Buda EDC agenda’s for all the meetings.
However, what took place at our last meeting after an average start that progressively turned ugly, I became a witness to spoken statements that I will label as a travesty or injustices that were inflicted upon an excellent and dedicated employee of the Buda EDC. All persons who know the Executive Director, Warren Ketteman, are very familiar of the many functions he has attended on behalf of expanding business in Buda.
All who know Mr. Ketteman are very aware that he grew the Buda EDC from its infancy to its present position, as a very productive entity for the Buda Community. Such is the courage of the Executive Director that as he was lambasted by falsehoods and innuendos he politely listened with quiet professionalism as the falsehoods kept flowing out of the mouth of the speaker.
A harsh method was used to instruct Mr. Ketteman not to show up for work the next morning plus to turn in the office keys and cell phone that very night. I am stunned by the latest announcement that Mr. Ketteman was not dis-employed but that he quit. I am of sincere hope that things have not sunk so low in Buda.
However my personal question on this whole affair stems from three unanswered queries. Had the decision to dis-employ Mr. Ketteman been a pre-suggested conclusion? If so, who was the point of origination? Since there were no written presentations of Mr. Ketteman’s alleged failures, what was the chief motivation for the termination?
I think only by a thorough investigation for the facts and people involved can we conclude that either a preconceived decision of termination was already in the works or that this board can terminate an Executive Director for any non-valid reason.
As for myself, I stand firm on my stated word that I was totally surprised by this commitment of wrong done to Mr. Ketteman.
