BUDA — To preserve the beautiful night sky, Buda is gathering letters of support from residents and businesses to become an International Dark Sky Community.
In 2014, Dripping Springs was the first in Texas to become a Dark Sky location; Wimberley and Fredericksburg followed suit years later. Buda was inspired to move forward with the designation process in 2018, an effort for the community to be more sustainable and conservation-minded.
While Buda has adopted the necessary lighting policies, the city is also required to have community support to meet the designation standards.
The Buda Area Chamber of Commerce has reached out to members with a template letter to include in the application package. Once information is filled out in the yellow highlighted spaces, letters should be emailed as soon as possible. Please call (512) 295-9999 or email [email protected] with any questions.
