Abdon G. Sanchez, 89, of Kyle, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Elvira (Vera) Alvarez Sanchez, his parents Juan and Manuela Sanchez, his sisters Patricia Sanchez, Victoria Gamez, and Olivia Tobar, and his brother Enrique Sanchez. He served his country in World War II in the battle at Normandy and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by his son, John Sanchez and wife Rachel, his two daughters, Sylvia Sanchez and Odilia (Dee) Sanchez; his grandchildren, John Sanchez Jr. and wife Georgia (Gigi), Sedreana Saldana, Silas Saldana, and Sejena Saldana Ramirez and husband Juan Ramirez; and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Nathan Sanchez, Austin Jero Saldana-Senn and Gianna Elvera Ramirez; his sisters, Sabie Tobar and husband Lupe, Antonia Wilson (both of Vernon, Texas), Matilde Hulett, of Wichita Falls and his brother in-law Carmen Tobar of Kyle and his sister in-law Amelia Resas of San Marcos extended family include Lino Martinez Jr., Nancy Adami and Samantha Adami-Norgan, numerous nieces and nephews. Recitation of Holy Rosary was Thursday, Oct. 11. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Oct. 12, at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda. Interment followed at Assumption Cemetery.
