STAFF REPORT
The Hays County Food Bank on Friday delivered 349 turkey dinners to the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center. Staff and volunteers from the food bank worked alongside HCISD employees to help unload and distribute turkeys and all the trimmings. This year, requests for Thanksgiving dinners were up 20 percent from last year. The food bank will distribute 3,001 gobblers to families throughout the county. It will cost $58,000 to buy the turkeys and other items, which will feed about 11,000 people.
Inside the boxes are: 1 frozen turkey; 2 boxes stuffing mix; 2 boxes instant mashed potatoes; 3 cans corn; 3 cans green beans; 1 can cranberry sauce, 1 large can yams, 1 large can fruit cocktail; and 2 boxes Jell-O.
