Simon Middle School got schooled
Hays CISD’s Simon Middle School was one of just six middle and high schools in the country to win a private screening of Rise of the Guardians before it is released in theaters today. The prize comes from the Get Schooled Organization, DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures. Simon, and the other five winners, competed against more than 200 schools nationwide in the “Get Schooled Fall Attendance Challenge” and succeeded in engaging the vast majority of their students in the early weeks of the challenge. Combined, the winning schools have posted a nearly 3 percent gain in attendance, with some schools boosting their attendance by more than 5 percent.
The screening for Simon Middle School was Tuesday, Nov. 20, in San Marcos.
‘Give Back Nights’ to benefit Hays High’s Project Graduation
The Hays High School Project Graduation – an event that aims to keep students safe from drunk driving on graduation night – is in full swing. In addition to a variety of events throughout the year, the group benefits from Chili’s “Give Back Nights.” On the second Wednesday of each month, the Chili’s on Old San Antonio Road in Buda will donate 10 percent of its sales from customers with a Project Graduation flyer. The next night is Dec. 12. Visit www.haysprojectgraduation.org for more information and to print the flyer.
