The Hays High School Varsity Policy Debate team placed fifth in the state at the elite Texas Forensics Association competition in Amarillo earlier this month. Team members include senior John Ayala, left, and junior Tad Klamert. Tad was awarded second place for the TFA State Top Speaker out of the top 256 in Texas.
The TFA State Tournament brings together 128 of the top policy debate teams from public and private schools in Texas to debate this year’s resolution: “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its exploration and/or development of space beyond the Earth’s mesosphere.”
