Bobby Jack Jarrett, 81, of San Marcos died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in San Marcos.
He was born Jan. 25, 1931, in McLean, Texas to V.B. “Gene” and Edith Fayne Jarrett. He graduated from Kingsville High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&I College in Kingsville in 1952. He spent two years as a dental technician in the U.S. Army. He earned his Master’s degree from Texas A & I.
Bobby was married to Susan Rogers Jarrett in 1966 and moved to San Marcos shortly after as Dean of Men for Southwest Texas State University. He was a football coach and physical education teacher in Alice, Texas, and taught archery at Southwest Texas State University.
He is survived by his wife Susan, two sons, Tom Jarrett and his wife Laurie of New Braunfels, and Michael Jarrett and his wife Joanne of Buda. His grandchildren include Christopher and Matthew Jarrett of Buda and Cade Jarrett of New Braunfels. He is also survived by a brother, Harry Gene Jarrett and his wife Johnnie of Granbury, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Nov. 13, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in San Marcos with burial in San Marcos City Cemetery. Memorials in Bobby’s name may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Association-Capital of Texas Chapter.
