William “Bill” George Ervin was born March 14, 1978 at Nacogdoches Medical Center in Nacogdoches, Texas. Bill grew up in Talley Bottom, Texas, a little town east of Longview. He attended Hallsville ISD where he was an all-district football player and won numerous awards for artistic excellence. He graduated from Hallsville High School in 1996. He briefly attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Bill transferred to Texas State University in San Marcos, where he earned his B.A. in graphic design. He met his wife Rachel during his years at Texas State. They subsequently moved to northeast Austin where Bill and Rachel began their family. He was an upstanding citizen whose story was just beginning. As a child Bill attended church at Red Oak Baptist Church in Longview. His pastor was Rev H.C. Rockmore who will be the attending pastor at his funeral.
He is survived by his wife Rachel, his child, 16-month-old Fallon, and an unborn child. His siblings are, chronologically, Eardis Ervin, Andrea Sanders, Benisha Blake, Tonya Rison and Ishan Rison. His parents are Billy Joe Ervin of Longview and Mona Lisa Ervin (deceased).
Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Harrell Funeral Home, Kyle. Interment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. The family requests that memorial donations be made to a fund in William “Bill” Ervin’s name, DPS Credit Union, Acct #24556200.
