The radio tower on FM 2770 (Jack C. Hays Trail) took mere seconds to be taken down after standing for more than 30 years.

It took a few seconds for the tower in the 3500 block of Jack C. Hays Trail in Buda to fall from the sky. The radio tower has been in the location for more than 30 years. With the final 5-year lease running out, electricity was cut to the tower Monday, May 3. By regulation, because the tower was so tall and needed lights to warn aircraft, it had to be taken down within 24 hours. At 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, the towering landmark crumbled to the ground.
