The latest class of Court Appointed Special Advocates was recently sworn in and will soon be assigned to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect and are now placed in the state’s care. As advocates, the volunteers will get to know everyone in the children’s lives and speak up for them in court, advocating for their best interest. New advocates include Fran Mueller of Kyle, Danielle Rigueira of San Marcos, Robin Hewes of Wimberley, Margaret Koranek of Comal County, Leticia Estavillo of Buda, Lesley Allen of Kyle, Judge Karin Bonicoro, Don Hoffman of Comal County, Jan Krupinsky of Comal County, Jody Cosson of Comal County and Kim Wan of San Marcos. In 2011, more than 1,000 children were confirmed victims of abuse and neglect in Central Texas, and more volunteers are needed to serve these children. Another free training is starting soon. If you would like to make a difference in the life of a child, please contact Training Coordinator Debbie Haynes at (512) 392-3578 or visit www.casacentex.org.
