Neil served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1945 to 1948. Neil never saw duty on a ship, and was rather glad for it. Neil and Helen owned Mountain Gas, in Santa Ysabel, CA. They devoted their lives to their family, and to the business from 1965 to the early ‘90s. They both headed into retirement, but soon found themselves living in Fritch, TX, and owning Lone Star Gas. Soon after, they finally started living their retired lives.
Neil first married Laurie McCord and had their son, Neil Scott Borslien, El Cajon, CA. He later married Helen Murphy Lyda in May, 1957. Helen brought to their marriage a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lyda (McCloskey), CA. Together they had their third child, Kristine Kaye Borslien. Neil and Helen celebrated more than 53 years of marriage.
Neil was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Helen, and his mother, Ruth Stokes, and father, Gaylord Borslien, along with his brother, Russell Eugene, ND, and sister, Elaine McCormick, CO. He is survived by his three children and sisters Betty Deibert, AZ, and Margie Zier, ND. Together Neil and Helen’s lives were blessed by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
