2nd annual Dirt Dauber Festival
Corral the whole family and drive them out to the Eye of the Dog Art Center for this cool free festival featuring 25 clay artists showing their work and demonstrating their techniques plus live music, free hot dogs, contests, and children’s activities. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29. 405 Valley View West, San Marcos. 754-8171


Farmers Markets
This Saturday, take advantage of all the cool farmers markets just a breezy drive away. The downtown Buda market is getting into a good rhythm in its new location by City Hall from 9 a.m.-noon. The market on the square in San Marcos is year round so they’re ready and waiting for you from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. And, finally, you can head west through downtown Kyle and out to the 150 Market each Saturday from 10 a.m-1 p.m.


Short Story Contest 2012
Don’t forget the Friends of the Buda Library Short Story Contest deadline is coming up this Monday, April 30. Any Hays Co. library card holders 16 years and older are eligible to submit a short story a maximum of 2,000 words long. First prize is $200 and publication in the Hays Free Press. friendsofthebudalibrary.org


MR Fest 2012
What started off as a little, local festival has exploded into a three-day festival featuring 100 artists performing in 13 locations around the San Marcos Square. The free fest begins with a kick-off party at Tantra Coffee House Thursday evening and runs through the closing festivities on Saturday night at Texas Music Theater. A little nutty
Shake off those hump day blues with a free live show under the live oaks at Nutty Brown Cafe. Bleu Edmondson w/The Thieving Birds take the stage at 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday, May 2, compliments of the KVET Free Texas Music Series.
