Charles “Uncle Charley” or “Pop” Jennings passed from this life peacefully surrounded by family and friends, April 18, 2012. He is “safe in the arms of Jesus” having lived a full life of 100 years, 2 ½ months. Charles was born in Dallas February 3, 1912 to deaf/mute parents, Whit and Jesse Jennings. Sadly, his mother passed away two months after his birth and he was raised by an uncle and aunt, Charles and Blanche Jennings. Charles lived with his parents at different places in Texas and graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio in 1932. Charles met and married Julia Alder in San Antonio on June 2, 1934. They were married for almost 74 years before Julia passed from this life in 2008. Charles and Judy lived in Dripping Springs since 1990 at 170 O’Neill Ranch Road and were long-term members of Wimberley Church of Christ. Prior to moving to Dripping Springs, they lived and raised their sons in San Antonio. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge in San Antonio. Charles worked as a salesman and was the sales manager for Finck Cigar Company, San Antonio, retiring in 1977. Charles is survived by his three sons and their wives: Marshall and Marjorie Jennings, Dripping Springs; Randy and Sandra Jennings, Buda; and Glenn and Camay Jennings, Greer, S.C.; six grandchildren, Brad and Ronda Jennings, Trent and Kim Jennings, Jeff and Elizabeth Jennings, Jason, Julie, and Joe and Janelle Jennings; eleven great-grandchildren, Niall, Kief, Drew, Gabriela, Rowan, Finnly, Alexander, Emily, Max, Lilli and Vivienne Jennings.
