Local veterans look out for their disabled brethren

SUBMITTED REPORT

When it comes to combat, our soldiers stick together on the battleground.  But when a veteran needs help after serving their country, their brothers and sisters in arms do not stop caring for one another.

Local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kyle-Buda Post #12058 recognized that one of their own members, Cliff Williams, was in desperate need of a new wheelchair ramp. Williams, served in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. After several attempts to find someone to help, members of the VFW stepped forward and took charge.

Special thanks to the Kyle/Buda VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary, Home Depot and Lowe’s of Kyle, for donating materials to help make this ramp possible. Thank you also to the numerous volunteers who helped to construct this 40’ ramp.

If you are a local veteran and interested in joining the VFW, please contact Sr. Vice Commander Jimmie Quintero at 714-267-0699, or follow the VFW on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kylebuda.vfw.  Members, non-members and their families are invited for free Coffee and other goodies every Friday morning at 8 a.m. at the local VFW located at 103 Front Street by the railroad tracks in Kyle.  Food and monetary donations are always welcomed.
