Faulty reasoning

Two articles in the July 4 Hays Free Press Opinion section by Richard Stone and John Young have a common fault: They make wild accusations of Republicans and TEA Parties that do not match the facts. Republicans are said to obstruct jobs but the House passed 30 bills to stimulate jobs. Senator Reid will not bring any of them to the Senate floor for debate and votes.

The Congressional Budget Office says ObamaCare will increase government spending by over $1 trillion in 8 years without counting $500 billion shifted from Medicare to fund it. Thousands of workers have lost employer sponsored health insurance because ObamaCare  requirements make policies too expensive. A study found 75% of the penalty tax levied on those without insurance will be paid by people with incomes less than $120,000 a year. People with insurance are paying higher co-pays for treatment with higher deductibles. Having insurance but fewer places and longer waits for treatment will repeat the horrific experiences of Socialized Medicine in other nations.

The U.S. Government was designed to allow a Free Market to manage our economy but Liberals want to remake our government into a Socialist Welfare State. The Mayflower Pilgrims tried socialism the first year but half of them died of starvation and illness. After that, they gave each family land to grow their own crops. When each person worked for their own benefit all prospered. Ben Franklin said; “I observed that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer’.”

The Tax and Regulatory Business Environment in the U.S. is the worst of any advanced nation on earth, so businesses move away with their jobs. The 77,000 page IRS Tax Code could be repealed by passing the 140 page FairTax Plan now in Congress (HR 25 & S 13). It replaces all income related taxes on individuals and businesses with a 23% sales tax. Citizens get full income and also get a monthly rebate. Less cost for businesses will drive wholesale prices down by removing hidden tax costs now passed on to customers.
