Oliver A. Taylor, 82, of Kyle, formerly of Austin, passed away on November 28, 2012. He was born November 1, 1930 to the late Arthur and Gertrude (McNeil) Taylor in Austin.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He transferred to the Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He traveled extensively while serving in the military. After serving his country and attending some years of college, he joined the Harris County Sheriff Department and became a law enforcement officer. He worked in that field in several Texas counties throughout his career. After many years, Oliver retired from the Travis County Sheriff Department. He also retired from Hays CISD Transportation Department after another ten years.
He was married to the late Minnie L. Hill, and to this union four children were born: Dyane Taylor, Lester Taylor, Ralph Taylor and Oliver Eugene Taylor. Later he united in marriage to Mildred B. Williams. He is survived by Mildred; four sons; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 7, 2012 at Word of Life Christian Faith Center in Kyle. Interment followed at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
