Sarah Marie Allison (1974-2012)

Sarah Marie Allison, 38, was born in Austin on May 13, 1974, and died at her home in Buda on December 7, 2012, as the result of complications from 31 years of juvenile diabetes and the rapid onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services were held at Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship in Austin on Monday, December 10. A private graveside service was held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth on Tuesday, December 11. Born with Downs Syndrome, Sarah was a joy to raise – sometimes a difficult joy, but a joy nonetheless. Her lighthearted laughter was infectious. Her winsome smiles and unbridled singing enriched the lives of everyone around her. She often dropped hilarious quips with uncanny timing and was a shining example of being present in the moment and how to relish the simple pleasures in life. She loved and was loved unconditionally.

Sarah is survived by her mother, Margo Allison of Buda; her father, John Allison of Austin; her sister, Jill Flanigan and Jill’s husband, Jimmy Flanigan of San Antonio; her brother Forrest Allison and Forrest’s wife Hannah Day-Allison of Buda; as well as four nephews and one niece – Darian King, Brady Flanigan and Caden Flanigan, all of San Antonio, and twins Finley and Kinzie Allison of Buda.

The family wishes to thank Marcos, Ashley and Karen, who provided Sarah with such loving care during her final months of life, as well as Kim, who lovingly helped with Sarah’s care for the past year and a half.

In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas or Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship, 1801 Kinney Ave., Austin, TX 78704.
