Hays boys, Lehman girls soccer teams in first place in district

Two goals by Josh Longoria and one apiece by Christian Varela (above, in white) and Kevin Mendoza helped put the Hays boys soccer team into first place with a 4-0 win over LaGrange. The Hays girls also posted an easy 8-0 win over LaGrange to move into second place in the district standings after three goals from Kelli Uresti, and a goal each from Savannah Derrick, Victoria Ratliff, Caitlin Peeler, Gabi Elsner and Mercedes Gilmore. Despite suffering its first lost of the season, 3-1 against Bastrop Friday night, the Lehman girls remain in first place in District 49-4A with a 6-1-0 record.
