Easter gatherings top weekend activities

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

What a beautiful day for Easter Sunrise services, Easter egg hunts or an outdoor picnic. St. John Lutheran Church services were held at 7 a.m. The sanctuary was beautiful with many Easter lilies placed in memory or in honor of loved ones. Refreshments were served after the service, an egg hunt and a video was shown. Among the worshipers were Raymond and Dorothy Thoene of Manheim, Texas. They are members of the Lutheran church in Manheim where Rev. Roger Hotopp served before he came to Uhland. Raymond and his family lived in Uhland when he was a youngster and later moved to Austin. Visitors are always welcome, so come back again.

Don and Tracie Crowell and Logan hosted a barbecue lunch on Easter Day. Attending were Don’s brother, Danny (he spent the weekend) of Live Oak (San Antonio), Tony and Janet (Don’s mother) Crognal of Cibolo and Myrtle Heideman. An outdoor picnic was enjoyed while listening to birds singing while they were busy building nests and hunting bugs. Logan enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, assisted by Bandit, his dog.

Enjoying a family gathering with Dorothy Schneider on Easter were son Bruce and wife, Natisha and children, Michael and Yana.

Jean had donated her body to science. A gathering was held after the funeral at the home of her daughter, Karen and family in Uhland.
