Wolfgang Xavier Schubnell “Opa” of Manchaca, born August 9, 1935 in Maheim, Germany died June 1, 2012 at the age of 76.
Wolf retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 and had enjoyed his many travels and time in California, Hawaii, Germany, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Alabama, Florida and Texas. He continued his career with Lockheed Martin until retiring again in 1992.
He was an avid New York Giants fan, and loved NASCAR. Wolf was a collector of vintage/classic model cars, knives, swords and watches. Fishing and his grandchildren brought him much enjoyment.
Wolf is survived by his wife, Janet Schubnell of Manchaca, sons: David and wife, Sally Schubnell of Buda, Steven Schubnell of Niederwald and Kevin and wife, Cindy Schubnell of Manchaca. He is also survived by his brother, Werner and wife, Diane Schubnell of Massachusetts. Grandchildren are: Christopher, Chelsea, Miranda, Nicole, Juan Diego and Alyssa, all of Texas. Niece Melissa and grandnephew Remington of New York and former daughter-in-law Kelly Slovak, Buda.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Comfort Care Hospice and Visiting Angels for all the care and support they provided.
A military burial will be at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Friday, June 15, 2012 at 9:45 a.m.
