The celebrations continue for Buda’s Cecil Clark who celebrates his 100th birthday today. Relatives, friends and neighbors take great pleasure in wishing Clark, a hardworking, honest and kind gentleman (not to mention always get his buck hunter and good 42 player) a “Happy Birthday.”

Hays Free Press Features and Education Editor Kim Hilsenbeck mentions the company Relatrix Corp. in the Oct. 17 article concerning the Hays CISD “year of the volunteer.” Relatrix, the new web-based program that our school district is using to manage the volunteer workload and expectations, has a Buda connection.
Brothers Mark and Ronnie Franke, owners of Relatrix, grew up in Buda and both graduated from Hays High School and UT-Austin. Ronnie graduated high school in 1978 as Salutatorian and from UT in 1982 with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree. Mark graduated from Hays in 1980 as the Highest Ranking Boy and from UT with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1984. Together they have developed and marketed several school communications software options. Mark lives in Frisco, Colorado, and Ronnie lives in Austin. Parents of the young men are lifelong Buda folks, Billie and Ronnie Franke

It was a weather perfect Art Festival weekend in downtown Buda. Hundreds of folks enjoyed the fall-like weather as they strolled through the area viewing all the fabulous art work and quilt show, hearing great jazz music along with the all the other entertainment, and enjoying the food and drinks that were available.
Susie Howell was the winner of the viewer’s choice award for the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Quilt Show held by the Buda Bees. The quilt titled “A Mother’s Love” was made for her mother’s 80th birthday, which was her mom’s last birthday, as she passed away before the next one.

Melinda Hodges, director of Buda Public Library, would like to invite the public to attend the upcoming program “Computer Security for Seniors” on Friday, Nov. 2, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. The informative talk will be presented by a security professional. No need to pre-register, just walk in.

Skip the long lines on Election Day and vote early at Buda City Hall. Voting times in Buda are: Friday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 27, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and Fri., Nov. 2, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Election Day is Tues., Nov. 6, and the polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

As it comes around every first Thursday of the month, the next one is Nov. 1: Come downtown for shopping local, eating local and just visiting with the locals for the Downtown Buda Merchants Group event.

Hurry, dress up the kids in their Halloween costumes and come to downtown Buda for the annual Boo-da celebration starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25. There will be treats and lots of fun for the whole family. See y’all there.
